Project Info

The goal of this project was to create a fun, playable board game with relevant lore and character design. We handled prototyping, rules creation, art, and gameplay balancing. The team settled on a hidden role game blending strategy and bluff.

You run a fantasy potion shop staffed by seemingly harmless chests, but one is secretly a Mimic, the RPG beast that morphs from innocent chest into toothy nightmare when adventurers get too close, a trope echoing Souls games. Three players manage the shop's reputation through daily potion trades, while the hidden Mimic sabotages adventurer requests via bluffing, resource juggling, and action cards.

While Mimic prototypes started as a joke during our brainstorm, we forged a niche social deduction game, heavily inspired by fantasy bestiaries and dungeon commerce tropes. The entire prototype is hand-drawn and handmade, from cards and board to box.

Limited by time, refinements and final assets are still in progress, but the paranoia of "which chest bites?" already drives you crazy.
